My Story

Who is Jimmy Moton?​

I was born and raised in St. Louis. I made a mistake over 20 years ago and received a non-violent felony conviction that I accept responsibility for.
I've volunteered with Better Family Life, Inc. for over 10 years, helping at-risk youth try to avoid the path that led me to prison by encouraging them to: go to school, pursue their dreams, take care of their families, and to stop the violence.
Below is my timeline...

September 1, 1993 - Arrested for 2nd-degree drug trafficking in St. Louis, MO.
May 5, 1994 - Plead guilty in court on and received a sentence of 12 years, but since first offense, only had to serve 120 days in prison and was released on probation.
May 19, 1994 - Started my prison sentence.
- I was transferred from the city jail to Fulton Reception & Diagnostic Center prison.
- From there I was transferred to Boonville Correctional Center.
- From there I was transferred to Potosi Correctional Center.
- From there I was transferred back to Boonville Correctional Center before getting released on probation on 8-24-94.1995 - Finished probation.
1996/1997 - Met James Clark at Better Family Life, Inc., started taking training courses @ The MET Center and volunteering in the community.
1999 - Earned my commercial driver's license (CDL) from MTC Truck Driver Training; got a job at All American Towing (where I worked until 2014).
February 9, 2007 - Received an award presented by former Mayor Francis Slay @ City Hall for outstanding service in the St. Louis community.
2016 - Got a job as a transporter at AA W TOWING & TRANSPORT LLC.
January 23, 2018 - I went to court to present my case to try to get my felony conviction expunged, but it was denied.
